New Updates to µTorrent and BitTorrent Improve Content Handling and Stability

Now you can download the stuff you love with a client that is 50% more stable, with µTorrent 3.4.5 (41073) and BitTorrent 7.9.5 (41075)– released on September 17th, and available for download at utorrent.com and bittorrent.com.

3.4.5 includes Internet Explorer Out Of Process (IEOOP) functionality. It changes how the app handles HTML content (now out-of-process) for a significant improvement in stability, 50% to be exact. This sets a new standard for µTorrent’s already-low crash rate. A big thank you to all of the µTorrent engineers who have worked so hard on this.

What does this mean for users?

  • Crashes and odd behavior triggered by HTML/Flash content will be isolated and not crash µTorrent/BitTorrent
  • The client team will now have a clearer picture of what the common crashes look like for µTorrent/BitTorrent, so that we can focus on crashes affecting client functionality.
  • We’ve had reports of better/more reliable font rendering and more consistent javascript behavior.

Here’s one of the graphs we use to measure build performance: (Note: these graphs show relative, not absolute, crash-rates)

Be sure to grab the latest version of uTorrent here if you haven’t updated already.

Hi, I wonder if you have an updated version that will work with El Capitan yet?
I can open the program but I can’t see the screen or download anything.

    Thanks,
    Mark
